STREETWORK MEETS STREETART

From 8 to 12 July, young people between the ages of 14 and 20 will have the opportunity to spray legally under the expert guidance of renowned graffiti artist Semor. This project aims to provide information, have a preventative effect, avert danger and criminal offences and open up new perspectives.

Before the participants start spraying, they are informed by the Altenkirchen police at the Raiffeisenforum about the negative effects of graffiti on individuals and communities. The legal aspects are also pointed out, in particular the fact that vandalism is a criminal offence and the costs associated with the removal of illegal graffiti for municipalities and cities.
The project also aims to convey that graffiti can be a means of self-expression and creative expression – it is not just vandalism, but also art.

What does this have to do with Raiffeisen?
Raiffeisen’s well-known principles call on us to treat our fellow human beings and nature fairly and responsibly. They encourage us to stand up for our actions and bear the consequences (self-responsibility), to actively take problems into our own hands and look for solutions together with like-minded people (self-help) and to be autonomous, self-determined and independent.

Graffiti as a means of expression can help to shape and strengthen one’s own identity. Spraying can therefore be seen as helping people to help themselves – and this is where Raiffeisen comes in!

Raiffeisen ambassador Freyja Schumacher will introduce the young people to the principles and values associated with the cooperative idea at the start of the project on 8 June at the Raiffeisenforum.
